The title of the exhibition La solitude organisative comes from the name of a recent painting of a serious-looking gorilla sitting in a corner, a kind of selfportrait, exhibited at the Venice Biennale in 2009 when Barceló, as a painter engaged in an almost extinct genre, was invited to occupy the Spanish Pavilion. As well as celebrating the outstanding achievements of an important living artist of international stature, this exhibition of Miquel Barceló's work is intended to be unusually experiential and to highlight the mystery, adrenalin and self-doubt that shadow the creative process.
